About Us

Engineers With Drones is a leading technical drone services company based in Ireland. We specialise in providing drone surveys and inspections to various industries, including energy, construction, infrastructure, land development, agriculture and environmental monitoring. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a new team member to join our growing company.

Company Ethos

Being efficient and straight-thinking is something we take pride in here. We strive to make our systems as efficient as possible. This means we are open to new ideas while remaining confident in our existing systems. In summary: the best idea wins the day; if you have a good idea, it will be heard.

Some examples of things we inspect

  • Electricity Pylons - giving status reports on corrosion and other issues
  • Wind Turbines - inspecting blades, both internally and externally, for any visual signs of damage
  • Dams - we've underwater drones (ROVs) for this
  • Forest Mapping - using LiDAR to map tree growth on wide scales
  • Sea shore topography surveying - making super-accurate topographical maps using drones
  • Historical monuments modelling - making digital 3D models for recording the status and degradation
  • Large construction sites - progress monitoring from the air
  • Industrial plants - we have internal drones for inspecting things like tanks and chimneys both inside and out
  • Solar Farm Inspections - our infra-red cameras pick up on any faulty cells in the solar panels

It's a very varied job, where each project involves something new, and would ideally suit someone who enjoys the challenge of working out technical challenges and how to do something new.

The Role: Core Responsibilities

There are two main parts to your role:

1. In the field, collecting the data

The first is in the field, using our drones, and other equipment to collect all the data. It may be a simple as images & videos, it could be LiDAR, photogrammetry, multispectral, infrared images and more. You'll be travelling a good bit for this around Ireland.

2. In the office, analysing that data

Secondly, you'll be analysing that data you've collected to help make useful insights for our clients. It might be generating reports of damage on wind turbine blades, or using advanced software to turn the raw data into 3D models of, for example, historic monuments.

As always, there will be other small aspects to your role, but the above are the core responsibilities that make up the majority of the role.

Please note: We do not provide aesthetic drone services, marketing images or alike. We provide surveying, industrial and technical drone services, so a strong technical mindset is important. You do not need creative photography skills.

Future Growth

We are a small, flexible and growing company. For those looking to expand their responsibilities in the future, there'll be plenty of opportunities to grow your remit once you've mastered your core responsibilities.

For example:

  • Maintaining and calibrating drones and equipment.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging drone technologies.
  • Assessing which new drone technologies may be a good fit for us as they come out.
  • Planning and assessing new client requests.
  • Helping to design and implement new back house systems - maybe there's a better way we can generate our reports or analysis?
  • Helping the company keep compliant.
  • Assist in growing the company in the future via marketing & client facing input.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering / surveying OR significant experience in a technical field
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Ability to work alone and get the job done - you will often be alone in the field
  • Problem-solving attitude with ability to learn new skills fast
  • Availability to travel a lot around Ireland
  • Solid computer skills, including a good understanding of spreadsheets

Not Required

Any experience with drones or surveying. We can teach you all that side.

The mindset we are looking for

Above all, we are looking for the right person with the right mindset:

  • Engineering or technical mindset
  • Problem solving attitude - enjoys a challenge
  • Ability to think on your feet and work things out
  • Enjoy learning new things, including ability to learn independently
  • Happy with travel within Ireland
  • Enthusiastic about growth and upskilling

If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
